Chirita
(vegetative) Propagation
Chirita
are very easy to propagate. Just put down a leaf or even
a portion of a leaf in/on mix and it will make new plants.
The cut side- whichever portion it is, needs to be left
to dry for about 15 minutes so the cut will seal over.
Putting this cut side in overly damp mix before it seals
over can lead to rot.
All of the Chirita I have ever propagated have been very
succulent like in that I have not had to dome or cover
the leaf that I am propagating. Perhaps if I were propagating
a very small leaf portion that would be necessary.
I normally just put a leaf in mix in the same pot with
the mother plant and they go right to work producing roots
and then plants. Normally, within about three months.
